As a law consultant, I’m seeing an increasing whole of my clients running Microsoft Windows Vista these days in spite of the fact that most businesses have not upgraded from Windows Xp. In fact, I have all the time discouraged people from running Windows Vista due to compatibility issues.

The qoute is that it is getting harder and harder to buy a new computer with Windows Xp. Although Microsoft delayed their decision to stop selling Windows Xp due to protests from vendors and consumers, they will ultimately stop manufacture it available. As a result, I knew I would have to deal with Windows Vista sooner or later, so I took the plunge this week. I bought the Windows Vista Home excellent upgrade and installed it on my netbook sale applications I tried, along with Quickbooks Point of Sale, CounterPoint and sell Pro. In all fairness, this is not surprising and may be due to the fact that I’m running them on a rather low doing netbook sale software vendor would propose running their program on a Netbook. However, it is worth noting that all of these programs performed acceptably under Windows Xp on this same Netbook.  

The biggest problems I encountered were hardware-related:  

1) Neither my wireless network card or wired network card worked immediately after the upgrade. After rebooting again, Windows did install the driver for my wireless network card, and I was able to get associated to my broadband internet. It took me longer to get my wired network card to work.  

2) At first, it did not detect my video hardware. Rebooting again allowed my video card to be recognized so I could switch to a higher resolution screen.  

What is my take on Windows Vista now that I’ve used it more extensively? I want my 9 back. I can now say from contact that the benefits of upgrading to Windows Vista do not outweigh the disadvantages. Undoubtedly, your doing may be good than mine on a computer with faster hardware. However, I still don’t see what new and entertaining features Windows Vista brings to the table to make it worth the money or even the time it took to upgrade. Because Windows 7 has been found to be faster on computers with even modest specs, such as Netbooks, I propose waiting for this to come out instead. The beta version of Windows 7 is absolutely ready for download right now. On a scale of 1 to 5, I give Microsoft Windows Vista a 2.5, and I don’t propose it.
